Sarah Jarosz

It’s funny that while describing my last musical discovery, Metric, I was complaining about not finding a lot of music interpreted by women that I like. Let me introduce Sarah Jarosz, mutli-instrumentalist and singer. Those of you who watched the Firefly TV show might find her music somehow familiar.  Mandolins, violins and banjos and superb vocals. The arrangements are brilliant, and the melodies are very original. I never really paid attention to that style of music before, but when it is done in such an outstanding way, how can I resist? Her young age make it all even more impressive. Her first album is entitled Song Up in her Head (2009).
